(Milford)– A faulty fan motor on a furnace resulted in the Milford Fire Department responding to a home in West Okoboji earlier today (Thursday).
Fire Chief Jim Carpenter says they were called to the 1300 block of Terrace Park Boulevard after getting a report of a house that was filled with smoke, along with sparks coming from the furnace. Firefighters arrived on the scene and the electricity and gas were shut off.
Upon investigating it was found the blower motor of the furnace had shorted out. Carpenter says there was no extension of fire to any other parts of the home. He says they ventilated the structure and that the residents were then allowed to return.
Firefighters were on the scene about an hour.
The Milford Police Department and Alliant Energy assisted on the scene.
