(Spirit Lake)– A former long time Dickinson County Supervisor has passed away. Wayne Northey of Spirit Lake died Tuesday at the age of 90.
Northey served on the Dickinson County Board of Supervisors for some 22 years. He stepped down from the board at the end of 2010 after deciding not to seek another four-year term.
Northey helped see the county through some tumultuous times, including the massive floods that ravaged the Iowa Great Lakes in 1993. He also helped oversee passage of a bond issue that resulted in the construction of the new courthouse.
A funeral service for Wayne will be held at 11:00 am Friday, December 22nd, at the United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 21st, from 4:00 until 6:00 pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake.
