Humboldt Man Pleads Guilty To Federal Firearms Charge

November 29, 2023 Steve Schwaller

(Sioux City)– A Humboldt man has pleaded guilty to a federal firearms charge. 37-year-old Joseph Hardy, Sr. entered the plea Tuesday to a charge of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

As part of a plea deal, Hardy admitted he knowingly possessed a firearm even though he had been previously convicted of a felony punishable by imprisonment for more than a year, and that he knew he had been previously convicted of that felony. Hardy also admitted the gun had been stolen.

Sentencing will be set once a pre-sentence report is completed. He remains in the custody of a U.S. Marshal in the meantime.
