(Milford)-There are several performances of the Okoboji High School Musical this weekend. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
Okoboji High School with present their Fall Musical, Guys and Dolls, Friday through Sunday.
Co-Director Jo-Gehrke says, it’s a fun period piece for students to perform. “Guys and Dolls tells an overlapping story of high-roller Sky Masterson who falls in love with Mission worker Sarah Brown, and then there’s also Nathan Detroit who is engaged for 14 years to Miss Adelaide, who is a headliner at The Hot Box Club, they’re story kind of going along with that, and then it kind of brings those two groups of people together. It’s a fun show. It has some great jazz music in it and we honestly have a phenomenal pit this year of students that are going to be playing a lot of those jazz songs.”
Co-Director Kane Knudtson says the production features classic songs, like A Bushel and a Peck and Luck Be a Lady. “In the film version, Frank Sinatra was definitely, and Marlon Brando also was in the film. Those two songs kind of shot up the charts. We have two gentlemen in the cast that are going to give their all and they do a fantastic job. There are just wonderful songs in the show.”
Performance times are Friday and Saturday night at 7 and Sunday afternoon at 1 o’clock at The Okoboji High School Auditorium.
