(Spencer)– The Spencer City Council Monday evening approved the sale of two city owned lots to the Northwest Iowa Corridor Habitat For Humanity. The action followed a public hearing that drew no comments. The lots previously had structures on them that were declared nuisances and were demolished by the city.
John Bjornstad, the new Executive Director for the local Habitat for Humanity group, told the council the organization plans to construct new homes on the lots to assist low income residents…
Councilman Brian Balk expressed his appreciation to the organization…
City officials say another benefit is the fact that those lots will once again be placed back on the tax roll.
