(Estherville)-The Heartland Honor Choir will perform on Thursday. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Iowa Lakes Community College Music Department will host the 9th Annual Heartland Honor Choir on October 26.
Vocal Music Professor Brett Fuelberth says students from many area schools will participate. “We’ll have a choir of 160 High School students that are coming from all over. Okoboji, Estherville Lincoln Central, LeMars, North Union, Pocahontas, South O’Brien, Graettinger-Terril Ruthven- Ayrshire and East Sac County. They’re all going to come together on Thursday and rehearse during the day and put on a concert. You know, when you get a choir that big together, they can make a really amazing sound.”
He adds that a special guest will direct the choir. “We’re really excited this year, we have Dr. Matthew Armstrong and he’s the Director of Choirs at Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska. He has done lots of festivals and clinics before and so he’ll come and work with the students all day.”
The concert will start at 6 o’clock Thursday evening at the Janice K. Lund Performing Arts Center on the Estherville Campus. Admission is $5.
