(Okoboji)-The Spirit of Harmony Chorus will hold their fall show on Saturday, September 30. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Spirit of Harmony Chorus will perform their fall concert on Saturday, September 30, at Pearson Lakes Art Center.
Director Judy Weipert says, the show will precede an upcoming competition with Sweet Adelines International. “It was 2022 we won the Regional Contest. We’ve never done that before. We’ve won the Small Chorus Division, but we have never won the overall division before. So, that’s been our dream ever since we first competed in 1981, so we’re very excited.”
She notes that the concert will feature unique costumes from past competitions. “The show, it’s called Chasing our Dream, and basically, it’s sort of a send off for our International Competition in Louisville, Kentucky. We’re featuring 4 different contests that we’ve competed in, international contests, as a small chorus, and we’re gonna be wearing the costumes from those shows. So, that’s gonna be a lot of fun to see all the different costumes, hearing some different music and it’s going to be a unique show. We’ve never anything quite like it.”
She adds that they’ve invited some special guests. “Every show that we put on we invite somebody to be a guest, and this year we’ve invited The Okoboji Community School Choir Program. So, I think they are going to be 50 students in all from the middle school and high school coming to perform in our show.”
The concert will start at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon.
