September 22, 2023 Steve Schwaller

(Sioux Center)– Another moose has been spotted in northwest Iowa, this time in the Sioux Center area. The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office is requesting anyone who sees it to stay away from the animal and to call them so they can relay the report to the DNR. The same moose was spotted in recent days near Rock Valley and Carmel.

The last moose reported in northwest Iowa was in Plymouth county. A dead moose was found there in April, 2022. Another was found there over a year earlier, in January 2021. In November 2021, a moose wandered into northwest Iowa from the Luverne area of southwest Minnesota and was seen in Lyon county.
