Storm Lake Police Make Arrest In Assault Case

September 21, 2023 Steve Schwaller

(Storm Lake)– Police in Storm Lake say they’ve made an arrest in connection with an assault last week in that city.

Officers say a male victim told them he was walking in a parking lot when a vehicle drove by and stopped. A man, identified as 31-year-old Jermaine Ford, exited the vehicle and engaged in an argument with the victim. During the argument, Ford allegedly struck the victim in the neck area with his fist and made a racial comment.

The victim admitted himself to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center later that day to be treated for serious neck injuries.

On Wednesday of this week, Storm Lake Police took Ford into custody at the Buena Vista County Courthouse. He was charged with Assault Causing Serious Injury, a class D felony…and Assault In Violation Of Individual Rights Causing Injury, an aggravated misdemeanor.

Ford was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a seven-thousand dollar bond.
