Suspect In Fatal Shooting Of An Algona Police Officer Taken Into Custody

(Algona)– A man accused of fatally shooting a police officer in Algona has been taken into custody in Minnesota. The Iowa State Patrol identifies the suspect as 43-year-old Kyle Ricke of Algona. He’s accused of shooting officer Kevin Cram around 8:00 pm Wednesday in Algona. Ricke then fled the scene. A special bulletin was issued to law enforcement agencies and Ricke was eventually taken into custody just before midnight near Sleepy Eye, Minnesota.

Other details into the incident weren’t immediately available.

Court documents indicate Ricke was booked into the Kossuth county jail on August 28th for allegedly harassing his ex-wife. He posted bond and was released from jail the next day, August 29th. Ricke had been in court the morning of the shooting.
