JCC Starts New School Year With Some Ongoing Construction

September 07, 2023 Steve Schwaller

(Jackson, Mn.)– The new school year at Jackson County Central is seeing some ongoing construction taking place. Superintendent Barry Schmidt says a few finishing touches still need to be put on the new middle school in Lakefield…

“Yes so we are almost completed with our new middle school, we have a few outside left to do to take care of. The completion of the Career Tech Ed building at the high school will be completed November 8th, that is on target at this time, and so you’ve seen probably that construction going on. We’re excited to hopefully have some sort of open house in December and show what we do, and all the new exciting things we can get hands on for our students to prepare for careers in the future.”

And Schmidt says Mike Matuska has joined the administrative team as the new Principal at JCC high school…

“Oh yes so he wanted to get back to this area and he’s looking to get back involved with his family and do those good things so, his family was originally from the Iowa area and his parents graduated from Jackson County Central, or Jackson I should say.”

Jackson County Central also has a new policy this school year that bans the use of cell phones in classrooms. They can still be used, however, in hallways and during lunch.
