(Des Moines, IA) — Hot, dry weather over the past week continued to take a toll on Iowa’s corn and soybean crops.
The USDA’s latest Crop Progress and Condition Report shows the condition of the corn crop declined 5 percentage points, with 49 percent of the crop rated good to excellent. 17 percent of Iowa’s corn crop has reached maturity, 5 days ahead of last year and 3 days ahead of normal.
The condition of Iowa’s soybean crop declined 4 percentage points, with 49 percent of that crop rated good to excellent.
Iowa Ag Secretary Mike Naig says Iowa is at 166 consecutive weeks of at least moderate drought.
