(Emmetsburg)– An Emmetsburg woman has been charged in the death of a child that occurred earlier this year.
Authorities responded to a call on January 19th, 2023 at 1605 8th Street in Emmetsburg after getting a report of an unresponsive child. 23-month-old Sebastian Jespersen was taken to Palo Alto County Hospital and then to Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines, where he died January 24th.
An investigation by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the State Medical Examiner’s Office revealed the child died of head trauma consistent with inflicted injuries.
Sebastian’s daycare provider, 28-year-old Hannah Priest, was arrested today (Friday) on a charge of child endangerment resulting in death. The charge is a class “B” felony. Priest is being held on a $50,000 cash only bond.
