(Arnolds Park)-The Iowa Rocks Talent Finals will be held on Saturday. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association will hold the Iowa Rocks Talent Final Competition on Saturday afternoon at The Roof Garden Ballroom.
Executive Director Clay Norris says, the statewide competition is for young musicians 21 and under. “There are 6 or 7 individuals that will be competing and there’s at least 5 bands that are gonna be competing, as well, and there will be a champion named in each one, and then, we have a couple of caption awards. One of them is the Best Vocalist of the whole time, and the other one is the Best Instrumentalist.”
He notes that the winners will open the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame Induction Concert on Sunday evening and receive recording time. “Catamount Studios, a good partner of ours over in Cedar Falls, each winner gets a chance to record with them. So, these groups are on Spotify and they’re able to sell their EPs and it’s super cool.”
The Iowa Rock Talent Competition will be held from 1-4 Saturday afternoon at The Roof Garden Ballroom and is free and open to the public.
