Early Morning Rains Bring Relief To Hot, Dry Conditions

August 25, 2023 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– The rain that moved the region earlier today (Fri.) was in advance of some cooler, less humid air that will be making its presence felt over the weekend and into next week. Alexis Jimenez of the National Weather Service in Des Moines says the next several days, including the weekend, are looking really nice…

“Thankfully behind it, though, we’ll have really nice temperatures that will come in and really set the theme for the next several days with highs returning into the low to mid 80’s over the weekend and even into next week we start seeing 70’s for highs possible.”

About an inch of rain fell across a good deal of the region early this (Fri.) morning, bringing some badly needed relief to the hot, dry conditions we’ve been seeing. Agricultural experts say it will still be beneficial to corn and soybean crops as they move toward maturity.
