(Okoboji-A local favorite returns to Pearson Lakes Art Center Wednesday night. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
Pearson Lakes Art Center will present Dave Rowley & Friends Wednesday night.
Rowley says the show will be their 20th consecutive concert at the Art Center. “It’s gonna be our 20th performance that we’ve had. We started in 2004 in the Pomerantz Hall down at the Art Center, and it’s been 20 years of consecutive. I think we’re the only band that the Pearson Lakes Art Center that has had a show 20 consecutive years.”
He adds that he’ll be joined by some talented friends. “We’ve got Ryan Sather on keyboards, we have Perry Pearson on acoustic guitar, Brent Wallin on bass. Carlis Faurot plays violin, and we have Jay Hardy sitting in on drums this year, and we also have Tom DeMoris, he’s quite the lead guitarist.”
Rowley notes that the group performs a wide range of material. “Summertime by Gershwin is always fun. We’re gonna do I Was on a Boat, Brown Eyed Girl. Some other tunes, too, like one by Doc Watson called Ready for the Times to get Better. I’m also doing a Clapton tune and some Jimmy Buffett, and we also have some Irish tunes coming up. We’ve got everything from Drunken Sailor/Drowsy Maggie to Galway Girl.”
The concert will start at 7:30 Wednesday evening.
