(Des Moines)– Some housing projects in northwest Iowa will receive a share of $38 million in workforce housing tax credits through the Iowa Economic Development Authority.
A project in Sheldon involving the renovation of three vacant buildings for the Jackrabbit Upper Story Development project is among the projects awarded the credits. The project will create five rental units offering easy access to restaurants, shopping and other amenities in the city’s downtown area. It will receive $156,800 in credits. Another project in Sheldon, Prairie Trail Village, was awarded a million dollars in credits.
The second phase of the Deer Creek project in Estherville was also awarded a million dollars in credits.
A total of 59 housing projects were awarded the tax credits. State officials say the projects will create more than 2,000 residential units.
