Fishing Pro Chase Parsons to present Seminar As Part Of Okoboji Blue Water Festival

August 11, 2023 Steve Schwaller

(Arnolds Park)– One of the highlights of tomorrow’s (Sat.) Okoboji Blue Water Festival at Preservation Plaza will be a fishing seminar featuring Chase Parsons, professional walleye tournament angler and educator. He also hosts “The Next Bite” television show on the Discovery Channel and CBS Sports. Parsons says the use of sonar technology in fishing will be among the topics he’ll be covering…

“It’s similar to how everyone’s caught fish in the past except for now you’re not making any casts where there’s no fish, right? Like it’s so easy to see the fish on our electronics now and try to trigger them to bite. So I’m going to cover a lot of that just because it’s kind of been the hot topic in fishing for the last few years and there’s a lot of different ways to catch them using that forward facing forward sonar technology.”

Parsons says he’ll also be talking about casting and trolling techniques for walleye fishing along with his favorite tackle and baits. He says part of his presentation will be geared toward the kids…

“Just teaching real simple knots to tie and things like that. And just talking to them about basic ways to go out to a pond or on the shoreline of a lake and catching fish. So definitely we’ll have an opportunity to talk about that stuff as well which is probably as important as anything in the fishing industry right now is getting more kids involved.”

Parson’s presentation will begin at 9:00 am Saturday in the big tent at and is free.
