Okoboji Foundation Announces Winner Of July Non Profit Challenge

August 10, 2023 Steve Schwaller

(Arnolds Park)– The Okoboji Foundation’s annual July Non Profit Partner Challenge was another big success. Mindy Gress of the Okoboji Foundation tells KUOO news this year’s winner is Dickinson County Trails…

“They secured nearly $22,000 in donations to their fund and raised the most amount of money in the month of July of our partner funds, and so they then earned $5,000 from the Okoboji Fund to be put into their endowment to help bolster the amount they have available to utilize in the coming year.”

Gress says the Non Profit Challenge is designed to give those groups a chance to establish endowment funds…

“The Non Profit Challenge really gives us, the Okoboji Foundation, the opportunity to showcase one of the ways we work to serve the lakes region which is to create these partnerships with area organizations who are doing all of the great work around the area. And so these non profit partners create endowment funds with us to raise a permanent funding source for their operations or projects that they have going on. And so we utilize this as an opportunity to draw attention to those funds with them so that their donors can give and support their mission in another way.”

Gress adds the Non Profit Challenge has a huge impact on the lakes area community…

“We have over 20 partner funds and $39,000 was raised throughout the challenge. And so there’s just a lot of really good work going on around the lakes region and these organizations are working really hard to create the place that is Okoboji, and, you know, keeping our water clean and our arts and cultures attractive and really bolstering that recreation. And so we appreciate all of our partner funds and all of the organizations in the area and how they work together collectively to really make this a great place.”

And even though the July Non Profit Challenge is over for another year, Gress says it’s always a great time to support the Okoboji Foundation fund partners through donations. They may be made online at okobojifoundation.org/partnerfunds or by sending a check to Okoboji Foundation; P.O. Box 593; Okoboji…51355.
