(Estherville)– Here’s another reminder of a high fire danger due to the extremely dry conditions. The Estherville and Wallingford Fire Departments responded a little after 3:00 pm Monday to 1996 370th Street where a CRP field was on fire. Firefighters encountered heavy smoke, which was also limiting visibility for motorists on a nearby roadway. Firefighters quickly put out the fire, which was threatening to spread to some neighboring fields and a nearby hog confinement. They were on the scene about two hours monitoring hot spots.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
No injuries were reported.
