O’Brien County Crash Sends One Person To The Hospital

July 27, 2023 Steve Schwaller

(Paullina)– One person was taken to the hospital following a crash Monday afternoon in O’Brien county.

Authorities say 20-year-old Devin Heronemus of Sheldon was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer westbound on a county road northwest of Paullina and was following a dump truck. They say the driver of the dump truck stepped on the brakes but Heronemus couldn’t see the brake lights due to the dust. Heronemus then took evasive action to avoid hitting the truck, causing his vehicle to travel through an intersection. It came to rest in a ditch.

Heronemus was taken by ambulance to an Orange City hospital.

He was cited for following too closely.
