(Milford)-It’s Pioneer Days in Milford this weekend. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Milford Commercial Club will host Milford’s 55th Pioneer Days Celebration July 21-23.
Club President Lauren Rosacker says, things get started on Friday with a focus on kid’s activities. “We have some fun things for the kids Friday afternoon. There’s inflatables, free hot dogs, a kid’s tractor pull, a little kid’s parade and then, we end the night with the water fights and carnival games, and then a movie sponsored by the library.”
Saturday’s events include the parade and bags tournament. “We kick off the day with a 5K fun run. The parade does start at 11, followed by the noon burger picnic and free watermelon feed at Florence Park, and then, we’ve changed it up this year. We have a couple of eating contests at 2:30 and 3, a donut eating contest and then a marshmallow eating contest. Then the adult bags tournament starts at 5:30 in Florence Park to wrap up the day.”
She adds that Sunday’s TRAWL starts early in the morning. “The Boy Scouts kick off the morning pretty early at 6:30 with a pancake feed, and then the Okoboji FFA hosts the Tractor Ride Around West Lake, also known as TRAWL. That’s a pretty big deal for them with a ton of tractors attending.”
