(Arnolds Park)-The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association is offering a couple of programs for young musicians this summer. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association will host the 2nd Annual Iowa Great Lakes Rock Music Camp July 17-21.
Executive Director Clay Norris says, there’s still time for young musicians to register. “Please go online, fill out the application. It’s got a short little survey in there, and that will really help us make the best experience. The Des Moines Music Coalition does a wonderful job. The 3 specialists specialize in Vocal, Songwriting and Drums. It’ll be a great experience for not a lot of money. $100 for a week of experience for these young people with some of the most talented people in The Midwest.”
He adds that musicians 21 and under can enter The Iowa Rocks Talent Contest at this time. “Get online and register. Put a video on there of yourself or your band performing. You’ve got from now through July 30th to get those in to us, and then, they will be evaluated and the finalists will be selected, and the finalists will then get a chance to have a playoff the afternoon before our Induction. Then, the winners get a chance to play at the Induction Concert. It’s a wonderful opportunity.”
