Three People Injured In Separate Crashes

(Lakefield, Mn.)– A single vehicle crash Saturday night on Highway 86 two miles north of the Iowa/Minnesota border injured a northwest Iowa man. The Minnesota State Patrol says 59-year-old Michael Smith of Everly was driving a 1997 Buick northbound when the vehicle left the road and rolled in a ditch. An accident report says Smith sustained life threatening injuries and was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake. The crash took place a little after 11:00 pm. Troopers say alcohol was likely a contributing factor in the crash. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Lakefield Fire and Ambulance assisted on the scene.

A Florida man was injured Saturday night when a vehicle he was driving left the road and rolled in Jackson county. The Minnesota State Patrol says 31-year-old Justin Cochran of Palm Bay, Florida was driving a 2010 Ford Edge northbound on Highway 71 south of Windom when the vehicle left the road and rolled. Cochran was taken to the Windom hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Windom Ambulance and Jackson Fire Department assisted on the scene. The crash took place a little before 8:00 pm.

A crash early Friday on Highway 15 near Fairmont involving a semi sent one person to the hospital. The Minnesota State Patrol says 49-year-old Travis Berg of Albert Lea was driving a Freightliner tractor/trailer northbound when the rig left the road and rolled. Berg sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the Fairmont hospital. The crash took place a little after 3:30 am.
