(Milford)– Another area city is reminding residents of its fireworks ordinance.
City officials in Milford say consumer fireworks as defined by Iowa Code Section 727.2(1)(a) may only be used between 11:00 am and 10:00 pm on July 3rd and July 4th and only on private property with the permission of the property owner. Other types of consumer fireworks are prohibited. Violators will be subject to a $250 fine. Those caught shooting fireworks on public property will be subject to a fine of $500.
The ordinance does NOT apply to novelty type fireworks such as snakes, sparklers, party poppers, and sparklers.
