Tom Gustafson’s Dronescapes to open June 15 at Pearson Lakes Art Center

June 13, 2023 Becky Thoreson

(Okoboji)-There are two Art Openings on tap at Pearson Lakes Art Center this week. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:

Pearson Lakes Art Center will open two exhibits on Thursday evening.
Visual Arts Director Danielle Clouse Gast says, one will feature the work of Lakes Area Drone Photographer Tom Gustafson, “We’re really bringing a lot of new shows to The Art Center. We’re actually going to be opening up a couple of new shows in the next two weeks. Our new show that we have this week going up is Tom Gustafson’s Dronescapes, and Tom’s show will open up this Thursday, June 15, and our openings go from 5 to 7. In that show, he’s going to feature his drone work of The Iowa Great Lakes region. We’re very familiar with his work because we’ve enjoyed seeing his compositional takes on The Iowa Great Lakes for years, and this will be his first solo show at The Art Center.”
She adds that a special exhibit will feature the work at Iowa Lakeside Lab. “We’re opening up a special show in our vault, which we’ve never done before, in The Jones Vault, and it’s from Iowa Lakeside Lab. They’re celebrating 60 years of Diatoms. This special show will kind of give you a glimpse of diatoms and they’re working on that right now. They’re opening that the same night as we open Tom’s show from 5 to 7. So, you’ll have two new shows to see this Thursday at The Art Center.”
The openings are free and open to the public.
