(Arnolds Park)– We recently told you about the establishment of the Lakes Area Museum Alliance, a newly formed coalition of 13 museums throughout Dickinson county. A special event gets underway this Saturday that will commemorate the start-up of the alliance. Clay Norris, a spokesman for the group, says they’ll be kicking off a season-long promotion called “The Lakes Museum Trail” that will serve as an incentive to visit the various museums…
“Each museum will be open from 10:00 in the morning until 4:00 in the afternoon and there will, each museum, I know, will have some cool things going on like they always do, maybe a few special things depending on the museum. And we have a challenge, which is really cool. You can pick up a card, it’s like a punch card, and you can do it all on Saturday, that would be awesome, but if you don’t you’ve got all summer to visit at least 10 of the 13 museums and get those signed off on your card. If you do that we’re going to give you a swag bag with some cool stuff from every museum and then you would be entered into a bigger contest where the winner would get a two night stay courtesy of Pick’s Resort.”
Norris says there will be information about the Lakes Area Museum Alliance Saturday at the Iowa Great Lakes Maritime/Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Museums in Arnolds Park…
“We’ll have a table set up right outside of the Welcome Center and Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, so we’ll be right there. And then also it happens that at 11:30 there’s going to be some live music, Christopher Jon on the patio there outside of the museum and there’s going to be a pet adoption opportunity down there. We just have a lot going on on June 5th.”
The Lakes Museum Trail will run through September 4th. The grand prize winner will be announced shortly after that.
