Citywide Clean-Up Day For City Of Okoboji Set For June 5th

May 31, 2023 Steve Schwaller

(Okoboji)– The city of Okoboji will hold its annual citywide clean-up day Monday, June 5th. City Administrator Michael Meyers…

“Typically clean-up day is designated to pick up items that are not normally picked up for regular garbage collection. Things like windows, sinks, toilets, those small pieces of furniture, things of that nature. And this is for residential use only. So we’re asking that you have all of your items out at the curb before that designated Monday morning, so before 7:00 am would be helpful for us, and then just be sure any sort of construction material, planks, boards, things of that nature, are cut at least six foot or shorter so they’re easily disposed of.”

Meyers adds there are certain things that will NOT be picked up…

“Things like batteries, paint, insecticide cans and other hazardous materials, so we won’t pick that up. Additionally we still do need to get the green tags for things such as appliances, electronics, televisions, big pieces of furniture, tires, and things of that nature. Those tags can be purchased here at city hall. You can go on our website and on the very front page there is a link about clean-up days where you can review everything and then on there also is a link for the price of tags for certain items; or residents can feel free to give us a call at 712-332-2550.”

Meyers says it’s important items be placed at the curb no later than 7:00 am the day of the pick up as crews will only be making one pass through town.
