(Arnolds Park)-The Rock the Roof Concert Series will get underway Wednesday evening. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association will celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Rock The Roof Concert Series this summer.
Executive Director Clay Norris says, most of the concerts will be held on Wednesday evenings. “Well, I know that everybody that’s involved with Rock the Roof is pretty amazed that it’s been 20 years. It’s going to be a lot of fun and yes, we’re moving to Wednesday nights this year. Wednesday is a day that I think people are really going to enjoy, in fact, I understand that years ago that was a big night to go dancing.”
He adds that the series will kick off with Starfire Wednesday night. “Starfire is awesome, and a neat thing about this particular week is, not only are we celebrating the 20th season of Rock the Roof, but it is the 100th Anniversary of The Roof Garden, or at least a place called The Roof Garden, because the original Roof Garden opened on the lakeshore back in 1923.”
Rock the Roof will get underway at 6 o’clock Wednesday evening at The Roof Garden Ballroom.
