May 30, 2023 Steve Schwaller

(Peterson)– A Holstein man faces multiple charges following a high speed pursuit Sunday evening in the Peterson area.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy’s radar clocked a vehicle at 69 mph in a 55 mph zone. They say the deputy tried to pull over the speeding vehicle, but the driver accelerated further, with speeds hitting 110 mph. Deputies called off the chase as the vehicle traveled into Peterson at an unsafe speed. Upon further investigation it was discovered the vehicle left the road after missing a curve at 125th Avenue and 4th Street in Peterson where it traveled onto a lawn and collided with another vehicle. The suspect vehicle and driver were located a short time later at Kirschner Park in Peterson.

The driver, 28-year-old Wesley Euchner of Holstein, was arrested and charged with driving while suspended, failure to maintain control, failure to provide insurance, speeding…110 mph in a 55 mph zone, violating terms of a restricted license, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and interference with official acts. Authorities say additional charges are pending OWI test results.

Euchner was booked into the Clay county jail.
