(Spirit Lake)– Some big changes will be coming soon to a busy intersection on the south side of Spirit Lake. City officials say beginning June 1st, the intersection at Hill Avenue and 36th Street will become a four-way stop. Traffic traveling on Hill Avenue from the south and from the north will be required to stop and stop signs will be installed.
City officials add a new crosswalk will be installed on the south side of the intersection to connect the sidewalk on the east to the trail/sidewalk on the west of Hill Avenue. Some new signage is also part of the project.
In addition, city officials say the speed limit south of 36th Street and Hill Avenue will change, extending the 35 mph zone a little further south.
They say the changes are intended to address some safety concerns in that area.
