(Arnolds Park)– Two seniors at Okoboji High School have been awarded scholarships through the Youth in Philanthropy program. Paul Conover and Lauren Ditsworth were each awarded $2,500 scholarships. It’s the first year the scholarships have been awarded.
Okoboji Foundation board member and Youth In Philanthropy steering committee chair Amy Maris came up with the idea last fall to reward two Youth in Philanthropy students scholarships annually.
This year’s recipients were announced during the Youth in Philanthropy’s year-end celebration.
Conover is a four-year participant in the program while Ditsworth has been involved the last three years of her high school career.
Graduating seniors that have participated in at least one year of Youth in Philanthropy are eligible for the scholarships, which are scored on a rubric established by the scholarship committee of the Okoboji Foundation.
