Milford Boy Scouts Will Hold Food Drive This Saturday, April 22nd

April 20, 2023 Steve Schwaller

(Milford)– Milford Boy Scouts will be conducting their annual “Scouting for Food” campaign this Saturday. Leader Jason Simpson tells KUOO news scouts will be making the rounds Saturday morning picking up donated items…

“The Milford Boy Scouts will be going around the town of Milford at 9:00 in the morning. They’ll be picking up the bags of food donations that people set out on their front steps.”

Simpson says they’re primarily seeking non-perishable food items but he says there are some specific things that are especially needed…

“But this year they’re asking for pancake mix, pancake syrup, hamburger helper meals, jelly, elbow noodles, chicken noodle soup, toilet paper.”

Simpson says the local Scouting For Food Program has been very successful in the past and that they’re looking to grow on that again this year…

“We take those items back to our scout building and we sort through them to get them into like boxes so we can transport them. We also have to take a count of how many items and in the past we’ve done well over a thousand items that we’ve donated to the food pantry.”

All of the food that’s collected stays locally and will be distributed through the Dickinson County Upper Des Moines Opportunity office.
