Estherville Residents Reminded Of Change In Disposal For Yard Waste

March 29, 2023 Steve Schwaller

(Estherville)– City officials in Estherville are reminding citizens of a change in the disposal of yard waste. Residents are now required to purchase biodegradable paper bags for the curbside disposal of leaves and lawn rakings. City crews in Estherville will begin picking up the bags Monday, April 10th, with the service continuing through May 15th.

A statement from the city says residents “must refrain from placing household solid waste, landscaping items such as planters/pots and pet waste with the leaves and lawn rakings.” It goes on to say that bags with unacceptable items will be left at the curb, and that all unacceptable items must be placed in city metered bags for pick up.

The biodegradable bags must be securely fastened and placed at the curb.

Estherville residents are also reminded that it is illegal to burn leaves and yard waste on property less than 1.5 acres in size.
