(Sheldon)– A homicide investigation in Sheldon has resulted in the arrest of a Rock Rapids man.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation says Sheldon police received a report of a deceased woman around 4:00 pm Thursday. Officers found the victim dead in her home at 604 4th Avenue in Sheldon.
The DCI says 41-year-old Nathaniel Kessel of Rock Rapids was arrested very early this (Friday) morning in Flandreau, South Dakota in connection with the death. Kessel was arrested on two valid Iowa warrants charging him with one count each of a felon in possession of a firearm and one count of murder in the 1st degree.
The name of the victim, hasn’t been released. The body has been transported to the State Medical Examiner in Ankeny for an autopsy.
No other details into the incident are being released as of now given the ongoing nature of the investigation.
