Dickinson Co. Supervisors Approve Funding Agreement For Final Phase Of Tatanka Ska Trace

March 14, 2023 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors today (Tues.) approved a grant agreement with the Federal Recreational Trails program for the final segment of the Tatanka Ska Trace trail connecting Spirit Lake and Lake Park. Erin Reed of the Dickinson County Trails Board says this will be the final stretch of that trail that still needs to be paved…

“This is the segment that starts in Montgomery and goes west two and-a-half miles and will complete the connection with Lake Park. It’s a standard issue that we do every time we get federal funding with the D.O.T., so.”

Reed says they’re hoping they’ll be able to get that segment done yet in the upcoming construction season…

“The D.O.T has been a little slow as far as their other audits go, so they tabled this until we got through those and now we’re looking at a July 18th letting. But hopefully once we get this moving along maybe we can push them a little bit to move it up, but.”

Reed adds they’re planning to have a celebration once the project is complete.
