Walleye Weekend Grant Applications Now Being Accepted

March 02, 2023 Steve Schwaller

(Arnolds Park)– Walleye Weekend Grant applications are now being accepted. Kylie Zankowski of the Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce says this is the second year they’ve allocated a portion of the weekend’s proceeds to grants for projects that promote and enhance fishing in the area…

“Anything from water quality to things that directly work with anglers like fish cleaning stations and things like that, docks, are projects that we want to help support. We were really, really excited to introduce the grant process last year where we encouraged 501C3 non-profit organizations to apply for funds from the registration fees. Of course we wanted to do angling and the waters of the Iowa Great Lakes and last year we were able to give $23,500 to different projects in the area which was just great, and we’re really looking forward to doing that again this year.”

She says the application process is convenient and easy…

“You can find applications on our website at okobojichamber.com or you can email blain@okobojichamber.com for some more information, and those are due by May 5th. So once we get all of the details from Walleye Weekend in, then we will release the amounts that we will be able to give and who we supported this year.”

As we’ve reported previously registration for Walleye Weekend participants is also currently underway. The event will be held May 6th and 7th on the Iowa Great Lakes.
