(Spencer)– Clay county’s new RSVP Coordinator has been on the job now the past few weeks. Elva Walker works out of the Spencer Campus of Iowa Lakes Community College. She’s had experience previously working with senior citizens and elementary students. In addition to her work as RSVP Coordinator, Walker also helps out at the Senior Community Center and serves as a volunteer mentor.
Walker will also be overseeing the Pen Pal program at Sacred Heart and Iowa Great Lakes Lutheran Schools. She will also coordinate the Clay County RSVP Literacy Partners program, which distributes free Scholastic books to elementary students in the Spencer area. Walker will also oversee the placement of volunteers for American Red Cross blood drives and the Spencer Mobile Food Pantry.
