(Lake Park)– Options for a construction project at Harris-Lake Park appear to be getting narrowed down. The school board met earlier this week with an architect and learned the cost of renovating the existing elementary facility has an estimated cost of $18.6 million; while building an addition onto the middle school/high school that would also house elementary grades was put at $17.1 million. Superintendent Les Douma says the writing may be on the wall as the estimated cost to renovate is above the district’s bonding capacity…
The Harris-Lake Park school board will hold a study session March 6th and will officially consider action at their March 20th meeting. A bond issue could go before voters this coming September.
As we reported previously the board is considering some other projects as well, including a four-lane practice track with an estimated cost of $412,000 and a bus barn estimated at $1.3 million.
