(Spirit Lake)-Show Choirs from 3 states will be attending the Shake the Lakes Competition this weekend. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Spirit Lake Music Boosters will present the Shake the Lakes Jazz and Show Choir Competition on Friday and Saturday at The Sami Center.
Club Member Nancy Vierkant says, the event will draw about 1500 people to the area. “We’ve got over 20 jazz groups coming from around the area, and actually, even includes 3 different states. So, we’re really proud of the fact that we have such a desirable event that we put on as a fundraiser. It’ll start on Friday during the day, February 17, with Vocal Jazz Competition, and then Saturday we will roll into all of the Show Choir events, and that will be both Middle School, there’ll be some JV High School and some Varsity High Schools.”
She adds that the public is encouraged to attend. “It is a $10 admission fee, which, of course, goes right back directly to the Spirit Lake Music Boosters because this is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year. So, it’s $10 Friday to get in, $10 Saturday. You can come. That fee gets you in for all day. The competitions start Saturday at 8:15 and they won’t wrap up until about 10:30.”
