(Spencer)– An attorney from Milford has been appointed as a part-time Magistrate to serve in Clay county. Abby Walleck will finish out a term of service that started August 1st, 2021, and will expire July 31st, 2025.
Magistrates have jurisdiction over simple misdemeanors such as scheduled violations, county and municipal infractions and small claims cases. They also have authority to issue search warrants, conduct preliminary hearings and hear certain voluntary hospitalization and juvenile matters.
The Clay County Magistrate Nominating Commission selected Walleck at a meeting this past Friday.
