(Estherville)– The Estherville City Council Monday approved an agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation for the re-surfacing of Highway 4 through the city. The Iowa D.O.T is scheduled to hold a bid letting on the project in March.
A similar re-surfacing project is also planned for a portion of Highway 9, or Central Avenue, in Estherville.
On another matter, the council approved revisions to the Facade and Business Property Improvement Grant programs as recommended by Excel! Estherville. The programs have been in place since 2009 and provide a $5,000 matching grant to those who’s applications are accepted for renovation projects. Clayton says the city’s match would be increased to $10,000 to help out with increased costs of labor and materials. She says another change would make it possible for building owners to re-apply for the program after 10 years to refresh the appearance of their building. The Business Property Improvement Grant would also be increased to a $10,000 match. Clayton says the changes will result in fewer grants being awarded…
