(Milford)-There’s an Evening of Music and Speech on tap with Okoboji High School Thursday. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
Okoboji Fine Arts will present an Evening Of Music and Speech on Thursday.
Communication Coordinator Linnea Lambert says the public performance for Large Group Speech was initially scheduled for that night. “It’s always the Thursday before we go to State Contest, which is in Le Mars on Saturday. This is a chance for parents and grandparents and people in the community to come watch the speech event. And then, West O contacted us and said they had an opening for their Tap Roots on Us, which is their fundraiser that they’ve been doing on the first Thursday of each month, and we said well, let’s take it!”
Instrumental Music Director James Kunz says the Okoboji Jazz Combos will perform at West O from 4:30 to 7. “Students will be playing jazz standards in small combos and singing standard tunes, and then from 6 o’clock to 7 o’clock, Erin Chappas, the Choir Director, and I will be doing a small little one hour set.”
Lambert notes that the Large Group Speech event will begin at 7 at The OHS Auditorium. “So, it’s a great night. You can go enjoy music at West O, and then you can caravan on over and join us at the High School Auditorium for some fantastic speech. We had 9 groups go to Districts and all 9 secured a spot at State.”
