Les Douma To Remain As Interim Superintendent At H-LP One More Year

January 26, 2023 Steve Schwaller

(Lake Park)– Les Douma is going to stay on as interim Superintendent at Harris-Lake Park for another year. The school board Wednesday evening approved a new contract with Douma. Board Chairman Evan Bensley…

“I’m happy to say that we were able to negotiate with Les and with his personal things in his life he’s able to adjust them and he’s going to stay on with our school board for one more year. This will probably be it. We have a school bond that we’re proposing to go in effect in September and so we’d like to keep him on board. He’s willing to work with us to get us through that period of time.”

Bensley adds Douma will remain on a part-time status but will be available at all hours if a certain circumstance arises…

“He’s available 24/7 so that’s a good thing about that. We weren’t so sure if we’d go with somebody else that maybe part time that we’d get that kind of service, I would say, but with Les we’re more than happy to have him. The staff loves him and he’s been great this last year.”

Douma, who’s from Orange City, had earlier indicated he would likely be leaving once the original contract expired.
