Hundreds of area students will participate in The Show and Jazz Festival at Iowa Lakes Community College. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Iowa Lakes Community College Music Department will hold the 2023 Show and Jazz Choir Festival January 24-26.
Vocal Music Professor Brett Fuelberth says, hundreds of area students will be participating. “We have essentially 28 choirs coming from a lot of the area schools around here. Spirit Lake, Okoboji, Emmetsburg, Estherville, Sheldon, a lot of our local schools are all coming. They come and they perform and it’s a clinic. This is for many of them their first performance, so they get a clinic by excellent clinicians in the area. Also, people can come watch, it’s free. It’s kind of the first time a lot of these groups are performing for their Show Choir and Jazz Choir seasons.
He notes that the full schedule may be found online. “The full schedule can be found on our social media, on our Music Department facebook page and instagram page. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week, pretty much all day. Most days its from 8 or 9, just check on that schedule, and then it goes to about 2 or 3 in the afternoon. So, you can see entertainment all day.”
The Festival will be held at The Janice K. Lund Performing Arts Center on The Estherville Campus. Admission is free.
