(Arnolds Park)-Look for the Vintage Snowmobiles this weekend. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Dickinson County Snowhawks will host the annual Vintage Snowmobile Ride on Saturday. Publicity Director Jantina Carney says registration will run from 9-10 am at The Ritz. “Basically, we invite people out that have vintage snowmobiles to come and ride with us around The Iowa Great Lakes. It’s becoming a lot more popular and a lot of people in our Club have them and a lot of people in the surrounding area. So, we basically will start at The Ritz around 10 o’clock in the morning, and we’ll take a short drive around East Lake Okoboji. A lot of times we go up on Big Spirit because it’s kind of fun, and then we’ll head back to The Ritz for lunch, and then, after that if the weather holds out and all the snowmobiles hold up, we’ll definitely go out again and take a little ride in the afternoon.”
She notes that a Scavenger Hunt is on tap Sunday. “We are having a Scavenger Hunt/Fun Ride. We’ll encourage our snowmobilers in the area to start with us at The Fish Shack at Okoboji Boats at 11 o’clock, and then they’ll get like a sheet and they’ll have to stop at our different businesses that are on there and get that stamped and then they’ll come back to The Ritz and we’ll do prizes and just have another fun day of snowmobiling, and again, we encourage anybody with a snowmobile to join us on that fun run on Sunday.”
