House Speaker Pro-Tem John Wills Outlines Republican Priorities As Iowa Legislature Convenes

(Des Moines)– The Iowa Legislature gavels into session later this (Mon.) morning at the statehouse in Des Moines. State Representative John Wills of Spirit Lake will once again serve as Speaker Pro-Tem in the Iowa House. He says more property tax reform is high on the agenda for Republicans who control both chambers of state government…

“How can we reform property taxes while at the same time not affecting those local governments, because property taxes is all local government revenue and so we really need to kind of decide and figure out how we can affect property taxes without affecting revenues that local communities, counties, school districts, hospitals, community colleges need to operate to provide services that they provide.”

Wills, who spoke with news partner KTIV, says school choice and education reform are also high on the list of priorities for Republicans.
