(Estherville)– An investigation into a domestic assault Thursday in Estherville resulted in an arrest.
Police say they were called shortly before noon that day to 215 South 9th Street. A caller reported she had been on the phone with her sister who lives at that address when the line went dead. Police arrived and attempted to make contact with those in the residence. Officers say 42-year-old Joseph Myers eventually came to the door but refused to let them inside, and an altercation resulted between him and officers, who eventually were able to take Myers into custody.
Police say the victim of the domestic assault was injured and was taken to the hospital by family members.
Myers was arrested and charged with 3rd or subsequent domestic assault, two counts of assault on a peace officer, 4th and subsequent harassment in the 1st degree, two counts of false imprisonment, willful injury resulting in serious injury and child endangerment.
Authorities say now that the investigation has been completed, Myers has also been charged with attempted murder.
He’s being held in the Emmet county jail on a $100,000 bond, with no bond for a warrant charging him with a probation violation.
