(Spirit Lake)– We should soon know who will become Dickinson county’s next County Attorney. The Board of Supervisors Tuesday are scheduled to act on an appointment to fill the vacancy created with the resignation of Amy Zenor. Zenor stepped down after being charged in November with public intoxication after being accused of showing up intoxicated at the Dickinson County Courthouse. Assistant County Attorney Steve Goodlow has been serving in the capacity on an interim basis.
Residents opposed to the appointment have the option to file a petition calling for a special election. They have a set amount of time to do that effective from when the appointment is made.
The supervisors opted at their meeting December 20th to appoint a successor, saying time is somewhat of the essence. This past Friday, December 30th, was the deadline for submitting applications for the position.
Zenor had been re-elected to a full term in the November election.
