Plows Being Pulled Off Roads In Some Areas

December 23, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Estherville)– Snow plow operations in some areas are being reduced and in some cases equipment is being pulled off roads altogether this (Thurs.) evening.

According to the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office, county plows were pulled off roads there already as of 2:30 pm today (Thurs.). Sheriff Mike Martens says the Iowa D.O.T will be suspending plowing operations at 8:00 this (Thurs.) evening on Iowa Highway 9 east of the Estherville city limits to Kossuth county along with Highway 15 from the Iowa/Minnesota border south. Martens says the D.O.T scaled back plowing operations on Highway 9 west of Estherville to the Dickinson county line as of 5:00 pm because of the worsening conditions. The same was the case with Iowa Highway 4 from the Minnesota border to the Palo Alto county line.

Travel anywhere in the region tonight (Thurs.) isn’t advised due to the extremely dangerous and potentially life threatening conditions.
